Flugge
A short film about a young female aviation pioneer in the Austrian Alps at the beginning of the last century.
Flügge continues to fly on an international festival tour through Poland, Hungary, and the USA, among other countries.
(For example, at the California Women's Film Festival, my on-screen daughter Amelie, played by Elena Franke,
and my on-screen husband Josef, played by George Lenz, were nominated for Best Actor, and the film won the award for Best Foreign Film.)
This photo is from the big team premiere at the Arri Astorkinolounge in Munich on August 11, 2024.
My role was Amelie's mother.
The film whets the appetite for more and is currently in development for a new project.

The transfer - A music-dance-theatre handover
How were knowledge, experiences, thoughts, music, texts handed over in the past? How are they handed over today?
Barbara Maria Messner, actress and dancer, and Margarete Huber, singer and composer, are jointly researching methods of handover, and thus also parts of their origins.
Both mothers worked as a yodeling duo in Bavaria and Austria in the 1950s. What can we still learn about this now? How can the sensual fragments of the past have an effect in the present and become new music, a new theatre? Margarete and Barbara both grew up in the country, Swabian Alb and Berchtesgadener Land, both had mothers who sang folk songs at events as young women and stopped doing so when they got married. Only one of them can tell us about it. Barbara and Margarete have reached a point in their lives where they want to take another look at their own origins and what they have learned and what they want to pass on.
The two are guests at UnserTheater Schwabhausen in the summer to research a possible music theater production.
The residency / research was funded by Flausen+ and Fonds Darstellende Künste.

April 17, 2024 marks the tenth anniversary of the death of Colombian writer and Nobel Prize winner Gabriel García Màrquez.
On this occasion, UnserTheater honors him and performs the only play he wrote:
Love tirade against a seated man – Diatriba de amor contra un hombre sentado
Two versions are presented on stage: Spanish and for the first time in German.
Two languages, two actresses: Arianna Vogelsang, Colombian living in Madrid, for the Spanish part
and Barbara Maria Messner from Munich for the German part. Musician is Shango Deli.

Reckoning of a love.
Garcia Marquez said “It is not what we have lived that is life, but that what we remember and how we remember it in order to tell the story.”
We encounter a woman, a man, a life in all its contradictions, both female and male.
With all the disappointments and absurdities of a great love, Rebellion and conformity, loneliness and longing,
and the feeling that your life is running away. Zack, twenty years have passed.
The piece is born from the experience of Gabriel Garcia Marquez Latin American soul.
There are attitudes to life, characters and humor that are familiar in Latin America,
but in German it only causes a lack of understanding. Dealing with cultural differences is an important part of the rehearsal process.
